Chief David Duffy

 

Chief Duffy began his police career in 1987.  He worked as a police officer on a special patrol squad in the city of Wildwood, NJ, for six months.  In 1988, Chief Duffy was hired as an officer in the Chalfont Borough Police Department, Bucks County, PA.  In addition to regular patrol duties, Chief Duffy served as the traffic safety officer for Chalfont Borough.

In 1989, Chief Duffy was hired as a police officer in Doylestown Township Police Department, Bucks County, PA.  During his tenure at Doylestown Township, Chief Duffy served as patrol officer, police instructor, special county detective, DUI Enforcement Coordinator and Supervisor, and special tactics team leader.  After competitive testing processes, Chief Duffy was promoted as the first Corporal in the department and was later promoted to Sergeant.  Chief Duffy has had the opportunity to attend numerous police training classes on a variety of topics including criminal investigation, special tactics, and police supervision and management.

Chief Duffy has earned Associates and Bachelors degrees in Criminal Justice.  He earned his Masters Degree in Public Safety Administration from Saint Joseph's University in Philadelphia.  He graduated from 219th Session of the FBI National Academy.  Chief Duffy also holds a first degree black belt in karate.

In addition to his police service, Chief Duffy has held many adjunct positions over the years.  He has served as a police training instructor for the Bucks County Police Training Center, Temple University Police Academy, National Tactical Officers Association, and the Pennsylvania District Attorney's Institute.  Chief Duffy has taught undergraduate criminal justice and police administration classes at Bucks County Community College and Temple University.

In 1998, Chief Duffy was selected to serve as a police management consultant for the Pennsylvania Governor's Center for Local Government Services.  In the role, he has conducted police management studies and several police regionalization studies throughout Pennsylvania.

Chief Duffy is a member of the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association and serves as an Assessor for the Pennsylvania Law Enforcement Accreditation Commission.

From March of 2003 to March of 2008, Chief Duffy served as Chief of Police of Newberry Township in York County.

Chief Duffy began his service as Chief of Police in Upper Gwynedd Township on March 10, 2008.  Although his duties as chief limit his adjunct endeavors, he remains active in several professional law enforcement associations.

When not on duty, Chief Duffy enjoys working out and spending time with his family.
