Fire Department

Upper Gwynedd Fire Department (UGFD) was founded on November 24, 1908 and Chartered by the County of Montgomery in early 1909 as the West Point Volunteer Fire Company. It’s official name was changed on February 28, 1983 when Upper Gwynedd Township Board of Commissioners signed and adopted Ordinance 83-5 which states, “The volunteer fire department known as the "West Point Volunteer Fire Company" is hereby designated as the official Fire Department for the Township of Upper Gwynedd.“  The Fire Company then changed its name to be known now as the West Point Volunteer Fire Company of Upper Gwynedd Township, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania d/b/a Upper Gwynedd Fire Department (UGFD).

It is the mission of the Upper Gwynedd Fire Department to provide a variety of services designed to protect the lives and property of the community we serve and the territories adjacent thereto, by providing prompt and professional services in the event of fire, medical emergencies, disaster or any other event which threatens the public safety through the proper utilization of Fire Department funds.
